Anne Matthews is a Professor at the School of Nursing & Human Sciences, Dublin City University. She lectures on the BSc Health & Society on topics including global health, health equity, scarcity and health and marginalisation and health. Her PhD examined past and present perspectives on power and empowerment in midwifery in Ireland, and she completed an MSc in Social Policy and Planning, and a B.Soc.Sc., and is a Registered General Nurse and Registered Midwife. She obtained a Cochrane Fellowship from the HRB in 2007-2009 and has been conducting Cochrane reviews (with 3 Cochrane groups: Pregnancy and Childbirth; Infectious Diseases; Pain, Palliative and Supportive Care) and other reviews and evidence syntheses since then. She is the Chairperson of the Irish Forum for Global Health. Her research interests are in breastfeeding support and policy implementation.
