Mike Smalle (B.A., MLIS) is an Academic Skills Librarian at the University of Galway, responsible for educating undergraduate and postgraduate students in information and digital literacy across all disciplines. Before taking up this position, he was the Librarian for Student Engagement and Success at the University of Limerick. For the past few years, the bulk of his work is in supporting students conducting different evidence syntheses (systematic reviews, qualitative evidence synthesis (QES) and scoping reviews) and systematic searching in healthcare research, and psychology among other disciplines. He is a co-author of published and ongoing QES with his colleagues in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Galway. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mike has also been a co-author on a series of rapid reviews for Cochrane and The Centre for Evidence Based Medicine (CEBM, Oxford).
