Dr. Marie Tierney is a chartered physiotherapist and postdoctoral researcher at the School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Galway. She holds both a BSc and PhD from the University of Limerick. After completing her PhD, Marie worked as a postdoctoral researcher on multiple projects within the College of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences at the University of Galway. Taking a career break from research, she worked as a chartered physiotherapist before re-joining the research community in 2022.
Marie’s research specialisation has been characterised by a commitment to developing high-quality evidence-based interventions with robust stakeholder involvement. Her work has not been limited to a specific clinical diagnosis or population group but aims for broad impact. Currently, Marie is working on the ‘Evidence Support System Assessment’ project with Evidence Synthesis Ireland, and integrates her research pursuits with clinical practice.
