New Publication: Efficacy and safety of respiratory syncytial virus vaccines

Congratulations to Dr Saif-Ur-Rahman and Prof Declan Devane (ESI team) on the recent co-publication of Efficacy and safety of respiratory syncytial virus vaccines‘.  This Cochrane review demonstrates that vaccines for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are both safe and effective in protecting vulnerable groups that are most at risk of serious illness, including older adults and infants. Researchers from Evidence Synthesis Ireland, Cochrane Ireland and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) analysed 14 clinical trials involving more than 100,000 participants. The findings show strong evidence that RSV vaccines can protect the most vulnerable – infants and older adults – helping reduce hospitalisations and pressure on health systems. Read more here.
