Pratik Kumar Bal is an ESI PhD student based at the Health Economics and Policy Analysis Centre (HEPAC) at the University of Galway. His doctoral research focuses on Evidence Synthesis Methods for Health Economic Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment (HTA), under the supervision of Professor Paddy Gillespie (University of Galway) and Dr Kieran Walsh (Health Information and Quality Authority and University College Cork). His PhD examines how evidence synthesis methods are applied within health economic evaluation and HTA to inform healthcare reimbursement and policy decision-making.
Before commencing his PhD, Pratik completed an MSc in Health Economics at the University of Galway, along with a Master of Public Health (Global Health) and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). He undertook an internship with Axis – The Reimbursement Experts in Ireland. Pratik also has experience in epidemiological research and clinical dental practice. His research interests include evidence synthesis methodology, health economic evaluation, HTA decision-making, and the use of real-world evidence to inform health policy.
