ESI was delighted to host a workshop on the foundations of evidence-informed policymaking with the Civil Service Research Network, in collaboration with the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. This full-day workshop brought together policy and technical staff from across government departments, CSO and Revenue to build essential skills for integrating evidence into decision-making processes.
We covered practical tools for:
-Framing policy questions that drive actionable evidence needs
-Systematic strategies for literature searching
-Understanding different study designs and their applications
-Navigating key statistical concepts relevant for policy work
-Critical appraisal frameworks for evaluating evidence quality
A huge thanks to the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) for collaborating on this important initiative. Special thanks to co-facilitators KM Saif-Ur-Rahman and Prof John Newell.
