Dr James McMahon

A Clinical Exercise Physiologist by background, I am currently working as a Research Fellow in the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Queen’s University Belfast. I obtained my BSc. In Sport & Exercise Science and my MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Liverpool John Moore’s University.

I completed my PhD in Queen’s University Belfast, focusing on the co-design of a of an eHealth intervention to reduce cardiovascular disease risk in male taxi drivers. Since obtaining my PhD, I have been working on a project that aims to co-design and feasibility test a digital intervention for optimising the quality of life for people living with heart failure in care homes, as well as delivering teaching on the adult nursing undergraduate programme.

My interests lie in cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment, lifestyle behaviour change, review methodologies, and involving stakeholders in intervention development through co-design. I am delighted to have the opportunity to develop my skills and knowledge of different review techniques further, particularly through learning from international experts.
