Patricia is a lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Galway. Patricia is a registered nurse and midwife who trained and worked as a midwife in the Coombe Women’s and Infants Hospital in Dublin and as a children’s nurse in Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin. Patricia holds a Nursing Degree and a Midwifery Masters from Trinity College Dublin, a Diploma in Health Services Management from the University of Limerick and a PhD from the University of Galway. Patricia’s professional interests focus on neonatal and maternity care, quality, safety and risk management in healthcare, research methodology, clinical trials, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and evidence synthesis. Patricia has collaborated closely on a number of projects with the Health Research Board –Trials Methodology Research Network (HRB-TMRN), Evidence Synthesis Ireland and Cochrane Ireland. She is currently involved in a number of both Cochrane and non-Cochrane systematic reviews.
