Dr Barbara Whelan is Acting Programme Manager for Evidence Synthesis Ireland, Senior Research Fellow and Evidence to Policy Lead at the Centre for Health Research Methodology. She leads the Rapid Evidence Support System Assessment, an initiative examining how evidence is generated, synthesised, and used to inform health policy in Ireland. Her work focuses on strengthening evidence support systems to enable timely, policy-relevant decision-making. She has over fifteen years’ experience in health research across academic and policy-facing settings, including supporting national health policy during the COVID-19 pandemic through Evidence Synthesis Ireland and the Department of Health’s Expert Advisory Group on Rapid Testing.
